Dr. Urquia joined the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy in September 2016 as Research Scientist and Assistant Professor at the Department of Community Health Sciences, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.
He obtained a bachelor in anthropology at the University of Buenos Aires and received a MSc and a PhD (2009) degrees in epidemiology at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Urquia is a reproductive and perinatal epidemiologist whose research is mainly based on the identification and analysis of relevant information available in large population-based linked administrative databases. Dr. Urquia is interested in the influence of the social and cultural determinants of health on maternal, newborn and child health and well-being. He is also interested in the development and application of novel methods for the analysis of complex linked data.
