Research Focus

I lead a translational research program that investigates cellular and biological mechanisms associated with obstructive lung disease (asthma). Our work uses in vivo and on vitro models to assess triggers, risks, developmental origins and new treatment options for lung inflammation, oxidative stress and lung disease. We have a particular focus on the effects of inhaled pollutants, how these effects are transmitted from mother to child, and how they interact with other risk factors to promote disease severity and inhibit treatment effectiveness.

Research Interests

- Asthma
- Air pollution
- Developmental origins of lung disease in children
- Oxidative stress in lung disease
